Round 17 YCW Gold v YCW Blue at the Sandpit. Beautiful Weather, Sunny, Lifes Good!!

Benny Poole in tremendous form mastered the conditions
The day started off brightly with some fancy work from Mather`s Marvelous Maulers against the 4th placed Langwarrin Under`s with a scintillating 8 goal 1st Q to have the match home and hosed in the first 20 minutes with the Fat Lady warbling a song throughout the short break. Things didn’t get any better for the Roos with the boys finishing the first half 65 points in front,13.6. 84 to 3.1.19. Apart from a minor glitch in the 3rd, when the Roos put on 2 majors, the boys went on to win easily by 81 pts, 17.13.115 to 5.4.34 with the Fat Lady in full chorus.
The Roos had no answer to the goal kicking brilliance of Jake Dunn, with his 6 goals, going to 53 for the year and taking out the League Under 18 goalkicking Championship. Nor could they stop Jake Foster who also bagged 5 big ones and was instrumental in the big win.
Others to stand out in a very even field were Sibber back to his best onball, Smerf Smerdal, Andy Fowler and Thomas Mitchell. Next week its 2nd placed Mornington and a chance to go thru the Home & Aways undefeated, whatever happens the boys will finish the year on top of the ladder. Congratulations to Scott and the boys on this little feat !!

Brendan Casper eager for the ball, has to contend with Ben H and Pooley
Schneider’s Scintillating Seconds came out of the blocks celebrating Stricos 100th Reserve game and didn’t stop for the next 100 mins. Playing 5th placed Langwarrin the Magoo’s were awesome in their commitment and desire for the ball and also finished the game in the 1st Q with a 5 goal to zip scoreline.
The rest of the match continued in the same vein with the Magoo’s increasing their lead at each break to finish the match 16.10.106 to 2.4.16 and take top spot on the Ladder. Its been a long time in coming but the boys finally made it. Great effort, lets make sure we finish that way !!
Best on show was David Bodley who won up forward and kicked 4 majors, not far behind were the onball smalls in Sharky and Tails, 5 big goals from Chappy, to join the lead in the Reserves Goalkicking championship, not forgetting Twiggys usual top 6 effort, which goes without saying ( 10 times now!).
Saturday and the boys travel to The Kennel for a must win against The Dogs to keep our top spot on the ladder..I’m excited !!

Brad Wakeling AKA Stonecat Star 2 put a big,big load on Leigh Stewart
The day for Bugs Battlers started off with Ducky leading the boys on to The Sandpit in Honour of his 100 Senior games, with the Ducky Fan club on the hill in full chorus. (Arent Mums great ?). After the shock and awe of last weeks game, supporters were slightly shell shocked themselves and feeling a little trepidation about the outcome of our rematch with Langwarrin.
But after an even 1st Q, with us holding a 2 point lead, the class of the boys began to show and the commitment of the team gradually wore down the Roos, for us to finish the 1st half 32 points up 9.8.62 to 4.6.30. The Dogs had no answer to our on ballers Leigh Stewart, Benny Tellis and Tony Lester while Benny Poole had his best game of the year relishing the Sandpit and picking up 32 possessions and innumerable tackles together with 3 inspiring goals.
The backline continued their impressive defensive record to keep the Langy forwards to a loosing score with Wintle, Kiely showing out, with my best without doubt being Ducky, with a welcome return to his top form, with his 40 touches as a backman…impressive

Mums are Great !! Phone your Mum.
The last Q saw Langy run up the white flag as the Fat Lady started to warble and Pooly and Hackett both slotted 2 goals and Steve Roberts sank a solo to bring the game to a finish 15.18.108 to 9.10.64. Next week a must win against Mornington to retain our 3rd position and the double chance..don’t stuff up please !!
