Mornington Away

1st May Weather Fine at the Kennel v The Bulldogs

Steve Roberts my pick for BoG puts the ball goal-wards.

On a day made for goal kicking the YCW  boys battered the Bulldogs to the tune of 97 points, saving the Dogs from an even worse defeat courtesy of  some pretty poor accuracy which saw the single calico brought out an unimpressive 24 times. With the windin the first Q the Doggies held their own to turn only 11 points down.

With the wind in the 2nd however the Stonecats immediately showed their superiority to put on 8 goals andput the game beyond doubt at the long break. With Eames in control of the ruck , Steve Roberts and Benny Tellis on ball and Benny Poole in the centre had a field day picking up  24, 20 and 21 touches respectively and peppering the forward line to provide a constant supply of ball to the forwards on the short Mornington Oval.

With the wind in the 3rd , the dogs were able to put on 4 goals but with our forwards on fire this was matched by 6 goals going thru in each of the last 2 Qs highlighted by BTs 4 great goals after 3/4 time. Chaplin and Ulms were outstanding at full forward/pocket both kicking 5 for the day (Chappy with 3 in the 2nd Q).

In a very even field my best for the day were Steve, Pooley, BT,  Maca, Chappy whilst the Grover showed potential in his short cameo appearance.

In the Magoo match Schneider’s Scintillating Seconds continued on their winning ways to run away after 1/2 time to win by 50 points with Nick Besley again among the goals and the best players with Herby, The Daff and Lafa showing out and Trenter keeping the selectors honest..

Couch Reilly’s boys found out the hard way that the Bulldog Pups are always a hard unit to beat and effectively lost the game in the first Q when they let the Pups break away to a 7 goal lead…All over Red Rover to the tune of 50 pts !!!
