ABOUT

It took a while, but “Ducky” finally matured as a footballer in last years Grand Final,playing almost a lone hand on the backline,in a side that was convincingly spanked.

A close checking defender, he has great poise in defense which combined with his speed and strength makes him a nightmare for opposition forwards, especially when he moves forward to create attacks.
Should really hit his straps this year now that he has had finals experience…….Wears yellow boots!!!…..What I said in 2005!

How right I was. Daniel had a stellar 2006 season taking all before him and convincingly beating every forward pitched at him. Got club B & F votes in 11 home games and the Semi and was considered by many experts, including Coach Koop and myself to be the best fullback in the league.

In 2007 under new Coach Barry was initially tried at various positions up forward where he performed well but not with the same flair and panache as he exhibited in the backline and was subsequently returned to a backline role on the flank or pocket due to Gun import Kiely now dominating the full back role..

Adapted well to his new role on the flank were his speed and height gave him an advantage over the smaller players in this position.. gave great drive out of the backline and was a key to our dominating defence that year..polled 9th in the Club B&F

Suffered a major ankle injury in the Preliminary final and was unable to front up for the GF which threw our defensive structure in to disarray and was a major factor in our thrashing at the hands of Seaford

If Ducky can maintain his focus in the pressure cooker of the backline in 2008 he will undoubtedly have another great season as he approaches his 100th senior game.
