Seniors v Seaford at Home

YCW Seniors vs Tigers at The Stonecave. Weather Cold & Stormy Throughout the Day

Seaford Home 527

Upside down with nowhere to go !!

My life was turned upside down last week with the disaster that was BonBeach but the hope was that I`d fall head over heals in love with the team again after a display worthy of the Stonecat name against the power unit that are the Tigers.

While not exactly doing cartwheels with Saturdays 12pt loss I am pleased to say that the side did us proud, almost…..almost.. bringing home the bacon in 100 mins of hard, never say die football. And whilst we may be disappointed, we should all be pleased that we again gave that mass of Seaford supporters who attended, that warm and fuzzy feeling to travel home with one more time !!

Benny Poole-Great on the lead takes one of his many marks for the day

With the backline up to its usual quality performance, (still the best Agst on the ladder), Seaford was kept to its 2nd lowest score of the season with only Chelsea doing better in the stopping stakes by 1 pt with a 65 pt hold in the 10th round. All other Seaford scores have been in excess of 100 pts.

Andy did a solid job on Marsh keeping him scoreless (Seafords 2nd best pick ??) and Ducky, Ando, and Dylan did their job on the danger boys, keeping Kraska to 2 goals and singles only to Hallal, Pat Cadd and Chris Irving.
How did we loose then ??? Simple.. Chris Irving .. unbeatable all day and tore us apart, a perpetual thorn in our side with his ball getting and disposal and for me the diffence in our teams !!!

Benny Hackett wasn`t on song for the day and only picked up 2 goals, and here we see the ball fly past as he takes a short break

The `Unit`gave great service around the ground and in the ruck, in battle with Clarke and Donny, perhaps the biggest ruck combination in the comp ( my grandson alikened the contest to`Big Show`and`The Great Kalid`vs`Ray Mysterio`) and more than held his own..

Surely though there was none better for us than Ben Poole, back to his best Dolphin days form in a magical display of grit and determination who laid on tackle after tackle, ad nauseum all around the ground, even decking big Clarky on one occasion. When not putting fear in to those with the ball, he also had time to pick up 30 possessions himself.

Nuf Said…It all happened inside the Box !!

With a chance to go 2 goals up with minutes to play we somehow found ourselves 12 pts down at siren time 9.12.6 to 8.6.54 but with room for much improvement.. My best but I`m no expert….Pooly, Kiely, Dougy, Ducky and Ando..and of course`The Unit`
Biggest ball getter for the day, Bundy with 33 pickups who worked wonders in the mud and slush…

Next week its Chelsea, and a must win now to stay in third spot and the extra chance now that Bonbeach have drawn level on points..its all to play for, with the home run being extremely hard with any loss perhaps waving our season goodby ..its all in your hands :
