AFL South East is excited to announce today the release of the MPNFL Division One and Two fixture.
Football on the Peninsula kicks off with a blockbuster round of Division One clashes over the Easter weekend and whilst Round One in Division Two officially commences on the 7th April Dromana Tigers will play host to Rye Football & Netball Club in a standalone Good Friday clash.
Former Nepean League clubs Sorrento Sharks Football Club, Frankston Bombers and Rosebud Football Netball Club will step up to face a new challenge in Division One whilst former Peninsula League clubs Langwarrin Football and Netball Club, Karingal FNC and Chelsea Seagulls move into Division Two no doubt harbouring ambitions to play finals in 2018.
Operations Manager Haydn Parsons was delighted with the process and the outcome “We gave all clubs the opportunity in October to submit their requests and pleasingly we have been able to accommodate many of them, there is much anticipation around the fixture this year and on paper there are certainly no easy games in either division, we anticipate some very competitive football in 2018, there will certainly be some clubs eyeing off a long-awaited finals berth.”
A few of the key features in this year’s fixture will be the following: · Easter Weekend blockbusters including the long-awaited Frankston Ycw Stonecats vs Sorrento clash. · Anzac Round including a battle for bragging rights in the city of Frankston with the Bombers taking on YCW. · Quit Challenge Round, Round 8 in Division Two and Round 9 in Division One. · Round 10 across both divisions will be Sock it to MND Round.
Alongside the regular home and away fixture will be: · AFL Vic Community Championships – Saturday 19th May 2018 Northern Football League vs MPNFL · Division Two and One standalone Saturday Grand Finals on Saturday 8th September and Saturday 15th September respectively.
