Team of The Half Century

Saturday night saw the end of over two years work with the announcement of the final selection for the YCW Football Club Team of the Half Century. Starting with input from supporters and members as to who should be considered for inclusion, further stimulus was given to the process by the submission of Teams considered worthy by ex players and supporters from all eras of the club.
Eight months ago letters were sent to all members requesting nomination of players for the team and a 5 member committee including Josh Kendall, John Rowe, Brendan Lacy, John Coburn and Rocky Hardstone was set up to select the team.

Extensive research was carried out involving newspaper reports, discussion with players, committee members coaches, staff and others with experience and knowledge of the football players from the last 50 years. The records of all players including games played, premierships won, League and club honours and awards were researched and tabulated. The selection process took over 2 months to consider all the players in line for selection and to arrive at an agreed 22 man team with 2 emergencies that fitted the selection criteria and which could be truly termed the YCW Football clubs Team of the Half Century.
