Just some of the audience at the Book launch/Team of the Half Century announcement
The sumptuous and brand spanking new Function Room at the Frankston RSL was packed with over 230 supporters, guests, past and present players and dignitaries on Saturday 25th July to witness the unveiling of `We Come From Jubilee Park`-The History of The YCW Football Club from its inception in 1959 to 2009. The evening cumulated over 3 years of research; Archive and Newspaper hunting, fact finding and innumerable/interminable interviews and discussions with all and sundry by Author Ian Purchase and his collaborator Rocky Hardstone.
In passing, the above duo would again like to thank those who helped out in the making of this book by giving of their valuable time with written and verbal reminisces, stories, foto identifications and advice..without you there would have been no book and it would certainly not have been as good as we think it has turned out….no names..you know who you are !!
To those who ignored their requests for help..blaaah !!
Printed by local firm Prism Publishing & Printing, the book runs to 200 pages filled with colour and B/W fotos, and has surpassed the expectations of even those involved in its production, turning out to be truly, top class quality product. For those who want to know anything about the club, its players or results this is an essential read, one you will find yourself going back to time and again..

The book was unveiled by Mr Jack Wagg, Life Member and Club President from 1968-1974, to a tumultuous applause (loud anyway) from the packed audience. Jack was a wealth of knowledge of the machinations and intrigue during the time of the clubs conception and its early years, and was invaluable in bringing this book together.

Many old faces turned up for the show among them Ron McFarlane long time stalwart of the club, ex Senior Coach 1977-79 who is also the father of Sharron Coburn. Whilst he didn`t win a Senior flag he had an excellent win/loss ratio of 74% during his stay and did pick up flags as coach of the 1974 & 1976 under 17 Premiership sides

Two of the Team of the Half Century enjoying the evening in Rohan Forrest-looking just like he did when he retired 10 years ago, and John Kenter who, well….just never ages..!!
The evening and the venue was judged by everyone to have been a raging success and the RSL management and staff must be congratulated on their Function room, standard of service and their culinary delights.
Also Brad Ostermeyer and Brendan Lacy for their incisive and in depth interviewing of all and sundry.
The evening set a high watermark that will prove hard to beat for those YCW personal running out the Team Of the Century..Good luck to them and my bet is that a lot of boys in this team will make the big 100 year Team… Pity we wont all be here to see how Longy et al fair, but that`s life !!
The Book is now in its second printing run and if you are looking for a copy for yourself or friend you will need to get cracking and get your order in before we run out of copies again. If interstate or overseas you will shortly be able to get a copy via Bill-Pay and have it delivered to your door.
If you are looking for a birthday or Xmas present for a YCW loved one..this is ideal !! For those who have already purchased we hope you enjoyed the history of our club…We await your feedback with interest !!
