REUNION OF THE 1968 PREMIERSHIP TEAM..
Jack Wagg tells it as it was, accompanied by Peter Catarinich Capt Coach of the 68 team and Paul Lombard MC..
On April 20th 1967 the first ever Senior YCW Team took the field at the Carter Oval Burnley, to play against Hawthorn in the B Division of the YCW Football Association/Victoria competition.
Coached and Captained by Peter Catarinich the side had a first up victory, winning 11.13.79 to 9.20.74..it was stated at the time that…`the team got away to a great start under the new Coach with victory in a torrid struggle at Hawthorn`..
Best players were deemed to be Peter Lovelock with 5 goals, VC Fred Pase,Peter Catarinich, Minio Rossetto, Henry Drazek and Ray Cullen. Goalkickers apart from Peter were singles to Henry, Wayne Peacock, Minio, Peter and Brian Earle
Little over a year later at 2pm on the 15th September at Warringal Park Heidelburg, much the same Frankston YCW Football Club team took the field against the Ormond YCW Football Club in the Grand Final battle for the 1968 B-Grade South Division,YCW Football League Premiership…
Little over 100mins later Frankston YCW had won its first premiership by beating Ormond 8.8.56 to 4.7.31. By all accounts the best players for YCW that day were the Coach Peter Catarinich with an inspiring Captains game, Garry`Swoop` Epstein, Con Van Haaster, George Elders and Maurie Keenan.
Slotting thru the goals that day were Catarinich and Epstein with 2 apiece and singles to Terry Peacock, Kevin Callander, Kevin McCormack and Bob Mullen

Just one month short of 40 years from that great and glorious day, 16 of the 20 players who took the field returned to Jubilee Park, the Ancestral home of the Stonecats, to remember, reminisce and reflect on one particular September day in 1968 they all hold dear…
To help them celebrate the occasion over 100 friends, supporters and dignitaries packed the Collopy Pavilion Function Room, all of whom were treated to a great afternoons entertainment and reminiscences, MCd by crowd favorite Paul Lombard…
ie a great time was had by all..  Bring on the 50 years back to !!
